The Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine's parliament, has refused to introduce a moratorium on increasing prices and tariffs for housing utility services, gas, electricity, food, fast moving consumer goods, and public transport services (apart from taxi).
Some 202 of 226 needed people’s deputies voted for a corresponding draft law at a meeting on Tuesday.
The deputies also did not support a draft resolution on a moratorium
on increasing prices and tariffs for housing utility services for the
public.
Some 223 people’s deputies voted for a corresponding draft resolution.
In particular, the draft law foresaw introducing a moratorium on
increasing prices and tariffs for housing utility services, gas and
electricity consumed by the population, food, fast moving consumer
goods, public transport services (apart from taxi) for the period of
financial crisis until a minimum wage and pensions are set at the level
of a living wage, wage arrears and debts on scholarships are paid.
