The parliamentary faction of the Regions Party is not blocking the parliament's rostrum on Friday, as there is nobody to open an emergency meeting, MP Vladyslav Lukianov has said.
“There’s no point in blocking the rostrum, because the parliament’s
leadership is absent in Kyiv today,” he told reporters on Friday.
Lukianov said that Verkhovna Rada Chairman Volodymyr Lytvyn is
currently in Kirovohrad, his first deputy Oleksandr Lavrynovych is on
sick leave, while Vice Speaker Mykola Tomenko is in Crimea.
He said that Bloc of Yulia Tymoshenko Tomenko would urgently return
to Kyiv, and added that an aircraft with him would land in Kyiv only at
1020.
As reported, the Bloc of Yulia Tymoshenko faction earlier insisted
that the Verkhovna Rada hold an emergency meeting on September 4.
