You're reading: Russian-Ukrainian relations enter on stage of ideological war

Kyiv, December 1 (Interfax-Ukraine) - The relations between Ukraine and Russia are turning from political confrontation into the ideological war, says an analytical report of the Center for Studies of Civil Society Problems.

“New elements appear in the dialogue between Kyiv and Moscow, they mark not only the political confrontation, but also ideological war, as exemplified by the situation around the Ukrainian famine,” Vitaliy Kulyk, Director the Center for Studies of Civil Society Problems, said adding that the Ukrainian-Russian relations remind a dialog of the deaf.

In particular, the principal feature of Russia’s new policies is its reluctance to support stability in Ukraine, which may be the worst challenge for the further development of the Ukrainian-Russian partnership, the report reads.

The only way out of this situation may be activation of the bilateral dialog and readiness to compromise and to carry out transparent policies towards each other.

“To break the deadlock we should offer creative ideas on solving the sensitive issues in the relations of the two states. These relations need rebooting. But, unfortunately, we will not be able to do this until 2009,” the report of the center reads.
