An inter-agency group consisting of the employees of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), border guards and customs officers prevented smuggling of over 2 tonnes of titanium-coated shell material worth nearly Hr 500,000 to Russia.

“On the line of the state border of Ukraine, near localities of Borysivka (Ukraine) and Solntsevka (Russia) a microbus was sized. The driver of the car was trying to smuggle over 2 tonnes of titanium-coated shell material to Russia. This material looks just like gold, it can maintain its decorative functions for over 50 years,” the press service of SBU Kharkiv regional office reported.

The issue of holding smugglers liable is being worked on. The goods and vehicle were confiscated.
