You're reading: SBU uncovers abuse in Odesa commercial sea port worth Hr 1 billion

The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) checked the state-run Odesa commercial sea port and uncovered abuse worth billions.

According to the SBU press service, the investigative department of the SBU office in Odesa region received materials proving the fact of abuse of office by officials of Odesa commercial port, the Infrastructure Ministry of Ukraine, State Property Fund and some private seaport operators when concluding and realizing lease agreements for the state property.

The SBU is also investigating other facts of abuse by officials from Odesa, Illichivsk ports and the state-run Ukrainian Sea Port Authority.

According to the SBU, during the president’s meeting with leaders of Ukrainian regions and law enforcement agencies on July 8, SBU Chief Vasyl Hrytsak paid attention to close connections of smuggling and counterfeit networks in Odesa region as one of serious threats to the security of the state.
