Kyiv (Interfax-Ukraine) – Ukrainian President Victor Yuschenko believes that the holding of the snap parliamentary elections during an economic crisis should not be a priority, Presidential Secretariat Head Victor Baloha has said

“The president does not need the elections when such a big problem as the economic crisis is currently on the agenda. One should think now about society and then how to take the positions of all political players currently represented in the Verkhovna Rada into account,” he said in an interview with ICTV Channel, which will be broadcast on November 30, the presidential press service reported on Friday.

“We should not think about the format of a coalition. We should think how to pass laws stabilizing the crisis situation in society. This is the main thing,” Baloha said.

He said that the issue concerns, first and foremost, the passing of the budget, which needs a united position from the entire parliament, rather than from a situational majority of 226 votes, and a new speaker, who should be elected soon.
