SIMFEROPOL – About 2,000 kilometers of roadway has been completed in Ukraine in 2011.
"This year Ukraine launched traffic on 2,000 kilometers of roads. This means work places, the country’s arteries, movement forward, the economy, and the well-being of people," Ukravtodor Head Volodymyr Demishkan has said on Friday.
He added that the launched 2,000 kilometers of Ukrainian roads would earn about Hr 4.5 billion next year.
"This is a very serious result," he said.
Demishkan noted that in 2009 Ukraine launched 98 kilometers of roads, in 2010 – 970 kilometers, and in 2011 – 2,000 kilometers.
"Considering the fact that the state is located on transit ways, Ukraine’s treasury can earn $3 billion alone on transit," he said.
Demishkan also expressed hope that next year the amount of roads built would double or even triple.
