The state automobile inspection, known under its Ukrainian abbreviation DAI, has issued an internal instruction that says drivers are allowed to travel at the speed of 100 kilometers per hour in some parts of the city where the official speed limit is 80 kilometers per hour.
Segodnya newspaper quoted chief of DAI’s press service Yevhen Kravets as saying that the new speed limit is reserved for multi-lane roads with a good surface and clearway dividers. “The road inspector will only stop and punish if the driver speeds by more than 20 kilometers per hour,” he said.
The fine for speeding by more than 20 kilometers per hour over the official limit currently stands at Hr 255-340.
