The presidential secretariat has doubts about the quality of the state register of voters of Ukraine, the deputy head of the presidential secretariat, Maryna Stavniychuk, said on Ukrainian television's Channel 5 on Wednesday.

“Of course, this is rather a serious issue, both for the legitimacy
and lawfulness of the [presidential] election results, as opportunities
for abuse proceed from the register … Of course, a problem with the
quality of the state register of voters exists at present,” she said.

At the same time Stavniychuk said that a considerable number of
Ukrainian MPs have repeatedly complained about this problem in the
Verkhovna Rada.

“But it is necessary to understand that we wouldn’t have had such a
problem at present if the legislative terms for forming the state
register of voters had been followed, …but it is [also] necessary to
say that we have enough time to correct this,” Stavniychuk said.
