Some 40 children, including ten Ukrainians, have been taken to the infectious disease ward of the central regional hospital in Burgas, Bulgaria, with symptoms of acute gastroenterocolitis, Ukrainian Foreign Ministry's spokesman Oleksandr Dykusarov said quoting the preliminary information provided by the country's embassy in Bulgaria.

The children were given the necessary medical care.

They are now in stable condition and will be discharged soon.

According to the Ukrainian embassy in Bulgaria, local services of epidemiological control suggest that the cause of children’s poisoning could be potable water of poor quality at the Green Park Hotel in the town of Kiten, which is accommodates about 500 vacationers from around the world.

Physicians are currently conducting checks to identify the cause of the infection.

The situation is under special control of the Ukrainian embassy in Bulgaria and the Consular Service Department of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, Dykusarov said.

According to Bulgarian media, more than twenty children from Russia are among the ill children.
