You're reading: The Prague Post: Czech Center presents a harvest of contemporary art from Ukraine

In the more than two decades since the end of the Soviet era, contemporary art from Ukraine has had little exposure in Prague aside from the kitschy surrealism and sappy impressionism on display in galleries along the main tourist routes.

Thanks to a joint effort between the Czech Center in Kyiv and a leading Ukrainian curator, Prague audiences can currently see a representative selection of young Ukrainian artists.

The 10 artists and two art groups selected for the exhibition “Ukraine Now!” were all participants in the Young Ukrainian Artist (or MUHi) competition, a prestigious annual prize for up-and-coming Ukrainian artists. The exhibition continues at the Czech Center in Prague’s Old Town until late August.
