OJSC Odesa Port-Side Chemical Plant could be sold after the crisis ends and the political situation in Ukraine stabilizes, Sergiy Tigipko, one of the candidates for president, considers.

According to the politician’s press service, commenting on the
failure of the plant sale, Tigipko said that “this is the first case
when a conflict between the president and premier did good for the
country.”

“UAH 5 billion proposed for the plant is nearly one-third of its
realistic price. Therewith, the plant brings proceeds even amid crisis
and it is worth postponing its sale,” Tigipko said.

According to Tigipko, if a tender succeeds, its outcome would be contested in numerous courts.

“Political risks are one of the main factors while defining an
enterprise price. And political risks exceeded the limit in the tender.
I think the government won’t manage to conduct another tender on the
sale of Odesa Port-Side Plant. The presidential election is not far
off. The enterprise could be privatized only after the crisis ends and
the political situation in the country stabilizes,” Tigipko said.
