The universalization of requirements to a balanced economic policy leaves less space for the Ukrainian government to maneuver, Sergiy Tigipko, a famous Ukrainian banker who has declared his intention to run for president, considers.

In such a way Tigipko commented on a refusal of Russian Finance
Minister Alexei Kudrin to allocate a stabilization credit on a
bilateral base to Ukraine, according to Tigipko’s press service.

“Explaining his position, Kudrin demonstratively refers to Russia’s
participation in the financial activity of the International Monetary
Fund and focuses on the readiness to help Kyiv through this
organization. It’s not a secret that until now certain Ukrainian heads
consider that if the International Monetary Fund further demands
Ukraine refuse populist policy in the part of budget expenditures, the
Cabinet of Ministers could address Moscow and come to an amicable
agreement on the credit,” Tigipko said.
