Ukrainian banker Serhiy Tihipko, who has announced plans to run for the presidency, has said his election campaign is being financed at his own expense.
“I finance [the election campaign] at my own expense, but in the
regions there are people who are starting to head headquarters, who
cover a part of the expenditure, donate offices, furniture, computers,
cars and so on,” Tihipko said at a press conference on Tuesday in Kyiv.
He said that he receives more support in regions.
“I’m sure that soon [my] ratings will increase, and the quantity of [my supporters] will rise,” he said.
Asked whether he receives financial support from Ukrainian
oligarchs, Tihipko said: “No. And there will be no such support. I will
not agree to the conditions that the big financial partners would like
me to agree to. We will manage on our own”.
