You're reading: Tomenko: Bill on pension reform to be adopted without opposition’s votes

The opposition factions will not vote for the proposed bill on pension reform, Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Mykola Tomenko has said.

"The opposition factions won’t vote for this bill," he said at a briefing in the parliamentary lobby on June 2.

Tomenko forecast that the probability of the adoption of the document was very high. The deputy chairman noted that the bill is closely tied to the issue of cooperation between Ukraine and the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

"I think the government’s approach to the pension issue will be the following: money in exchange for the retirement age of women. I think the government will choose the IMF’s money, and I forecast that the bill will be adopted by the end of the session," he said.

As reported, the Ukrainian government has sent a revised bill on pension reform to the Verkhovna Rada.

According to Vice Premier and Social Policy Minister of Ukraine Sergiy Tigipko, the government made eleven amendments to the document. In particular, it proposes to limit the pension size to ten living wages.
