Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko and her parliamentary faction have discussed the prospects for passing the state budget for 2010 in the parliament, Verkhovna Rada deputy chairman Mykola Tomenko said on Monday.

“They were discussing ways to organize the parliament’s work,” he
said while commenting on Friday’s meeting of the Bloc of Yulia
Tymoshenko Faction, in which Tymoshenko took part.

The vice-speaker said that the best option would be if the budget
were to be considered at parliament. At the same time, if this were not
to be case, work in committees and factions would be organized, during
which BYT faction members would try to persuade other lawmakers that
the budget should be passed after all.

However, if the parliament’s work is not unblocked, than the Cabinet
of Ministers will have to adopt the budget not as a bill on the budget,
but as a plan for the budget’s implementation, as stipulated by the
Budget Code.
