Verkhovna Rada Deputy Chairman Mykola Tomenko has proposed that MPs work in constituencies from October 19, 2009 to January 15, 2010.
The proposal was included in a bill on the Ukrainian parliament’s agenda during the presidential election campaign, which was registered in parliament on Tuesday.
The author of the document, Tomenko, proposed amending the schedule of the parliament’s fifth session, suggesting that MPs work with voters in October-December 2009 and the first half of January 2010.
Tomenko also proposed that MPs take unpaid vacation during the presidential election campaign.
According to its schedule, the Verkhovna Rada currently holds two weeks of plenary meetings each month.
The election of the Ukrainian president is scheduled for January 17, 2010.
