Ukrainian Premier Yulia Tymoshenko has described parliament's appointment of Petro Poroshenko as foreign minister as "an act of good will" for Ukrainian President Viktor Yuschenko.
“I believe that we as the current democratic
coalition are obliged to fulfill the constitution, and the current
authorities to live in a dictatorship of the constitution and the law.
Therefore we showed the desire to find a compromise with the president,
we demonstrated the desire to unite all of the branches of power. I
believe that the step we took should be a signal for the president to
help the government, [and to] the parliament to find ways out of the
situation in this difficult time of crisis. Therefore this [support of
the candidature of Petro Poroshenko] from our side is the demonstration
of a desire to support the president,” Tymoshenko said in Kyiv on
Friday, commenting on the appointment of Poroshenko as foreign minister.
