In the near future a program to build unified medical assistance and midwife centers will be realized in Ukraine, Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko, said in Kyiv on Saturday at a national meeting on implementing new approaches to forming the state and local budgets in 2010.
“We have elaborated a program which will be carried out over a year
and a half. We will build unified medical centers using Canadian
technology: there will be a medical assistance center and midwife
department on the first floor and good residences for medical staff on
the second floor. These buildings will be equipped with air
conditioning systems and all engineering communications. All of the
necessary contracts have been already signed. We will start the
building in the near future. We have been preparing for this for a
whole year,” Tymoshenko said.
According to the premier, Ukraine needs 526 such medical centers in
rural area. In addition, 1,356 rural ambulance stations still lack the
necessary medical facilities.
