Lviv, August 22 (Interfax-Ukraine) - The parliamentary faction of the Bloc of Yulia Tymoshenko (BYuT) will propose from September 1 that the Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine's parliament, consider the question of amending the constitution to take away immunity from people's deputies and cancel their privileges, BYuT leader, Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko has said.
“I want to see how each faction votes … and I want
to see which political force will support the retention of immunity,”
she said live on television in Lviv on Thursday.
Tymoshenko said that the BYT faction had six times
submitted the question of canceling deputy privileges for consideration
by parliament.
“We vote unanimously, with all of our 156 votes. However, the majority of MPs don’t support us,” she said.
