Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko has said that Ukraine should continue work on returning its national historical relics. She said this in Kyiv on Saturday, while presenting the restored Cossack banner depicting the national emblem of the Cossack state "A Cossack with a Musket."
“I want us to continue Ukraine’s struggle for the return of our natively Ukrainian relics,” Tymoshenko said.
She said that this work had recently “slowed a little.”
“Ukraine has no stamp with the national emblem “A
Cossack with a Musket.” This is our task for our future, and I’d like
philanthropists, historians, museum experts, and the government to
return our relics. They give us inspiration, revive spirituality, and
demonstrate how our parents and ancestors struggled for independence
and how they gained it with difficulty and in torment,” Tymoshenko said.
She also said that the Ukrainian government would
hold talks with restorers in order to pass a resolution allocating
funds for this work.
