Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko has said she is confident that Ukraine will have no problems in its gas relations with Russia before 2010.

“[Officials in] Ukraine and Russia will see in the New Year at home,
for the first time in recent years. I definitely won’t be at the
airport or at Gazprom,” she said at the sixth annual summit of the
Yalta European Strategy (YES) on Friday.

Tymoshenko said that this year, Ukraine would cut the consumption of
Russian gas to 27 billion cubic meters, down from the 53 billion cubic
meters consumed in 2008.
