A group of Ukrainian lawmakers and public figures will send an address to the U.S. Embassy in Kyiv with a request to ban judged who are involved in outrage against opposition to the United States.

"Oppositionists will ask the United States not to issue visas to judges of Pechersky District Court in Kyiv and Kyiv Court of Appeals," the press service of the Batkivschyna party reported on Saturday.

Tymoshenko is currently held in a detention facility and is being tried by the Pechersky Court in connection with the 2009 Ukrainian-Russian gas supply agreements.

The Perchersky Court is also hearing abuse of office cases against former Ukrainian Interior Minister Yuriy Lutsenko and other officials from the former Ukrainian cabinet.

Tymoshenko was taken into custody during court hearings on August 5. Judge Rodion Kireyev presiding at the trial has turned down motions by Tymoshenko’s defense team on changing the restrictive measure against her by a milder one.

On August 12, the Kyiv Appeals Court refused to consider an appeal by Tymoshenko’s defense team against the Pechersky Court’s August 5 ruling on putting the ex-premier into custody.
