Ukraine and the European Union (EU) discussed the state of and prospects for cooperation in the sphere of creating the Galileo/EGNOS pan-European global navigation satellite system at an international scientific and technical seminar in Yevpatoria, the National Space Agency of Ukraine has told Interfax-Ukraine.
The participants in the seminar discussed the development of satellite navigation in Ukraine while fulfilling the national scientific and technical space program of Ukraine for 2008-2012, as well as the current state of the Galileo/EGNOS projects, including industrial policy.
In addition, the colleagues considered the European Union/European Space Agency preparation programs for the European satellite navigation market and the participation of Ukrainian organizations in the programs, as well as projects for creating surface networks and implementing the technologies and equipment of the global navigation satellite system (GNSS) in Ukraine.
The partners discussed the issues of the GNSS practical and commercial use, having analyzed the experience of Germany and Ukraine, and practical approaches for the commercialization of satellite technologies.
