Ukraine from April halved imports of natural gas, compared to the last two weeks of March.

According to PJSC Ukrtransgaz, on April 1 and 2 gas imports amounted to 6.2 million cubic meters and 8 million cubic meters, while on March 16-31 gas receipt from European countries ranged from 13.6 million cubic meters to 18.3 million cubic meters per day.

The decline in imports in early April was recorded from the Slovak direction – 1.6-2.7 million cubic meters compared to 9.3-13.4 million cubic meters in the second half of March. Imports from Hungary and Poland on April 1-2 stood at 1-1.7 million cubic meters and 3.6 million cubic meters respectively.

In connection with a significant warming from April, Ukraine started taking less natural gas from its underground gas storage facilities (UGS). Thus, if in the third week of March gas taking was 36-63 million cubic meters per day, on March 31 it was 27 million cubic meters, and April 1-2 about 20 million cubic meters.

As reported, Ukraine’s gas imports in March 2016 amounted to 530 million cubic meters. The supplies came from Europe exclusively.

From January-March 2016 Ukraine imported 2.7 billion cubic meters of gas, which is 2.1 times (3.1 billion cubic meters) less than in the three months of 2015.
