Ukraine has agreed with Libya to sign contracts to cooperate in the military and technical sector, Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko said during a visit to Libya on Thursday.
“All of the details in the contracts have been discussed, and
cooperation between Ukraine and Libya has received the highest
political support,” Tymoshenko said after a meeting with Libyan leader
Muammar Gaddafi, the Ukrainian government’s press service reported.
The premier praised the talks held with the Libyan leader.
“This meeting was dedicated to the discussion of the contracts … and I’m sure they will be signed soon,” Tymoshenko said.
She also said that she had discussed with Gaddafi “all of the
possible directions” of work in the sphere of servicing Antonov
aircraft, in particular, the issues of creating a joint center for the
sale of aviation equipment throughout Africa, not only in Libya.
“A special Ukrainian working group remained in Libya to finalize the
details of the contracts, and these contracts will be signed by the
directors of plants, as well as by the directors of special exporting
companies that could be involved in military-technical cooperation,”
Tymoshenko said.
She also said that following the signing of Ukrainian-Libyan
contracts, Ukrainian military enterprises and aircraft building
companies would receive “significant additional orders” that will help
create new jobs and provide regular work.
