The agreement between the governments of Ukraine and Pakistan on trade and economic cooperation was signed in the course of the meeting of Ukraine’s Economy Minister Bohdan Danylyshyn with Pakistani Ambassador to Ukraine Gazanfar Ali Khan.

The press service quoted Danylyshyn as saying that this agreement would help the two countries use more effectively their potential both to increase the volume of trade operations and to endorse joint business projects in different areas.

The minister also pointed out positive dynamics in the development of bilateral trade during the past few years, and the maintenance of this tendency in 2009, despite the unfavorable conditions caused by the global financial crisis aftermath.

In January – August 2009, the bilateral trade turnover was USD 189.3 million.

As Ukrainian News reported, in July the Cabinet of Ministers approved the draft agreement on trade and economic cooperation between Ukraine and Pakistan, and authorized Danylyshyn to sign it.

Ukrainian President Viktor Yuschenko called as promising the development of cooperation between Ukraine and Pakistan.
