Ukraine's parliament on Thursday voted to appoint ex-finance minister Mykola Azarov, a close ally of President Viktor Yanukovych, as prime minister.
His appointment was endorsed by 242 votes in the 450-member assembly. It followed announcement of a new ruling coalition led by Yanukovych’s Regions Party.
