Ukraine Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko has vowed to overcome a presidential veto on legislation to allocate $1.25 billion to help fund the 2012 European Championship.
President Viktor Yushchenko sent a law earmarking about 10 billion hryvna for Euro 2012 back to parliament Monday, saying he suspected the funds could be misused.
But Tymoshenko claimed Tuesday that Yushchenko made the move to settle political scores ahead of January presidential elections, in which they both plan to run.
Ukraine is co-hosting the tournament with neighboring Poland.
UEFA has yet to decide how many Ukrainian cities will host matches as they are seriously behind schedule on preparations.
