You're reading: Ukraine prepare new structure for reforming defense industry

The council for military-industrial policy at Ukraine's Industry Ministry has prepared a model for reforming the domestic defense industry.

The proposals were presented at a council meeting dedicated to the
progress of the implementation of measures envisaged by the state
target program for reforming and developing Ukraine’s defense industry
until 2013, Interfax-Ukraine learned at the Industry Ministry.

The council suggests forming integrated economic associations in
aircraft engineering, shipbuilding, surveillance and reporting systems,
centralized control over armed forces, air defense systems, missile
defense systems, maritime border protection, and in production and
scrapping of ammunition.

The council for military-industrial policy was formed in 2009 under
a joint resolution of the Industry Ministry, Defense Ministry, National
Space Agency and Education Ministry.
