Ukraine will in November 2009 start preparing for its presidency of the Council of Europe, which is scheduled for 2011, Ukraine's permanent representative to the Council of Europe Yevhen Perelygin has said.
“Starting from November, we’ll start formal preparations [for the CE presidency],” he said at a meeting of the press club on Wednesday.
He said that Ukraine would preside over the Council of Europe for the first time in 2011.
He said that the ideas and priorities that will be realized by Ukraine during its presidency of the Council of Europe would be considered and approved during the country’s preparatory work.
Ukraine will hold the presidency of the Council of Europe from May to November 2011.
