You're reading: Ukraine pumps 1.2 bcm of gas into storage in Sept, 83% of target met

Ukraine pumped 1.2 billion cubic meters (bcm) of natural gas into underground storage facilities in September, bringing stocks as of 30 September to 15.684 bcm, Ukrtransgaz told Interfax.


According to company information, this year, 8.2 bcm of gas have been pumped into Ukrainian storage facilities. It was reported earlier that the plans called for pumping 9.872 bcm, thus, the plan has 83% been fulfilled.

As of Monday morning, gas stocks amounted to 15.8 bcm.

Ukraine began using gas from underground facilities for the 2014/2015 heating season on October 20, 2014 with some 16.749 bcm of gas on hand, and stopped on April 10, 2015, with 7.609 bcm remaining.

Ukrtransgaz, 100% of which is owned by Naftogaz Ukrainy, which operates the main gas pipeline system, has 12 underground storage facilities with an overall total capacity of 31 bcm.
