Ukraine and Slovakia are planning to amend the agreement on simplified frontier crossing by residents in border regions, Ukraine's Foreign Ministry has said.
These amendments will help simplify the procedure of crossing the
Ukrainian-Slovak border for Ukrainian citizens, Ukrainian Foreign
Ministry Press Secretary Vasyl Kyrylych said.
He said that Ukrainian Acting Foreign Minister Volodymyr Khandohiy would make a working visit to Slovakia on October 5.
Khandohiy is scheduled to meet with the Slovakian foreign minister,
as well as its president and premier, to discuss issues related to
Slovakia’s support of Ukraine’s plans to join the European Union and
NATO, the spokesman said.
Kyrylych said that such support could speed up the process of the
signing of an Association Agreement between Ukraine and the European
Union and would help intensify the dialog between Ukraine and NATO.
As reported, Ukraine and Slovakia signed an agreement about the
simplified procedure of border crossing by border area residents on May
30 2008. The parliaments of the two countries ratified the agreement in
July of 2008.
