You're reading: Ukraine starts pumping gas into storage facilities on April 7

Ukraine on April 7, 2016 started pumping natural gas into its underground gas storage facilities (UGS), PJSC Ukrtransgaz has reported.

If on April 6 some 4.18 million cubic meters of gas were taken from the UGS, then on April 7 they were replenished with 2.15 million cubic meters and gas stocks amounted to 8.44 billion cubic meters.

This was facilitated by an extremely warm weather in Ukraine as for the beginning of April, the end of the heating season, in particular, in large cities burning significant amounts of gas for heat generation, namely Kyiv and Kharkiv.

In general, since the beginning of gas taking in the heating season of 2015/2016, which started on October 30, 2015, and as of April 6, 2016 inclusive some 8.627 billion cubic meters of gas had been taken from the UGS.

In addition, imports of natural gas on April 7 totaled 7.923 million cubic meters, they were carried out exclusively from the EU.

Earlier, Board Chairman of Naftogaz Ukrainy Andriy Kobolev said the state holding plans to raise about $500 million of credit funds for injection of natural gas into the UGS in spring-autumn this year.
