Ukrainian Ambassador to Pakistan Ihor Pasko has died in a military hospital in Islamabad, the Web site of the Dzerkalo Tyzhnia newspaper reported.

According to the ZN.UA Web site, the ambassador died of a kidney infection.

"Pasko died aged 54 in a military hospital in Islamabad this morning," the Web site reported.

He had worked in the Foreign Ministry of Ukraine since March 1992.

Pasko was appointed Ambassador of Ukraine to Pakistan by President Viktor Yuschenko on Feb. 7, 2007.

Pasko was born in 1956 in Kyiv.

He was married and had two sons.
