The population of Ukraine in August fell by 0.04 percent or 19,500 people compared to July, and made up 45,831,400 people as of September 1, 2010,
according to the State Statistics Committee.

As of September 1, 2010, Ukraine’s urban population was 31,428,300 people (a decrease by 0.05 percent or 16,600 people, compared to August 1, 2010), while its rural population was 14,403,000 people (a decrease by 0.02 percent or 2,900 people, compared to the previous month).

The population of Ukraine in July fell by 0.02 percent or 8,900 people compared to June, and made up 45,850,900 people as of August 1, 2010.

According to the nationwide census that was conducted in December 2001, Ukraine’s population comprised 48,415,500 people, including 32,538,000 living in urban and 15,877,500 in rural areas.
