A meeting of a joint economic cooperation committee chaired by the Russian and Ukrainian premiers, Vladimir Putin and Yulia Tymoshenko, is likely to be held in Kharkiv in October, Ukrainian Ambassador to Russia Kostiantyn Hryschenko has said.

“The meeting of the sub-committee for economic cooperation of the
Russian-Ukrainian interstate commission will be held in Kharkiv in
October. The exact date hasn’t been settled yet. Whereas the two
countries’ presidents preside over the interstate commission, the
meeting of the sub-committee for economic cooperation will be chaired
by the premiers,” the ambassador told Ekho Moskvy radio on Friday.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov is also expected to visit Kharkiv ahead of the meeting in October, Hryschenko added.

While speaking about the possibility for the two countries’
presidents meeting, the ambassador said Ukraine is ready to consider
this matter.

“We are open,” he said.
