The Armed Forces of Ukraine are to be reorganized, Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Colonel-General Hryhoriy Pedchenko has said.
A draft strategic defense bulletin until 2025 foresees three branches of the army – Ground Forces, Air Force and Navy, he said.
"We will also have new structures – combat duty forces and special operations forces, which will be formed on the basis of the joint rapid reaction force and special units," the Defense Ministry’s press service quoted Pedchenko as saying.
He expressed confidence such a new organizational structure of the Armed Forces would help focus the funding on main areas and priorities.
Pedchenko also noted that in the context of drafting the strategic defense bulletin until 2025, the ministry would also draw up a strategy for reforming the Armed Forces of Ukraine in 2011-2015.
