Ukrainian boxer Vasyl Lomachenko (57 kg) has become the amateur featherweight world champion after beating his Russian opponent Sergey Vodopyanov 12-1 in the final of the AIBA World Boxing Championships in Milan, Italy, the press service of the Ukrainian National Olympic Committee reported on Saturday.

Vodopyanov won the World Amateur Boxing Championships in Chicago in 2007.

Another Ukrainian boxer, Oleksandr Usyk (91 kg) claimed silver after losing 14-10 to Russia’s Egor Mekhontsev.

Roman Kapitonenko (+91 kg), also from Ukraine, won the silver after
being beaten by Olympic champion Roberto Cammaralle of Italy 10-5.
