The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has condemned terrorist acts recently committed in Baghdad.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine condemns the acts of terrorism recently committed in Baghdad, particularly the August 19 incident outside the building of the Iraqi Foreign Ministry, which took away dozens of lives and caused numerous casualties,” the ministry said in a statement issued on Friday.
The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said it supported the efforts of the government of Iraq in their fight against terrorism. An act of terrorism, leading to victims among civilians, cannot be justified irrespective of the motives of its perpetrators, the statement reads.
Ukraine hopes that despite the complicated political, economic and security situation in Iraq the country’s government will continue democratic transformations and attain national unity in the country.
