The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry is not considering closing its diplomatic missions abroad in connection with the financial crisis, First Deputy Foreign Minister Volodymyr Khandohiy has said.
“We are not considering the issue of closing our embassies,” he said at a briefing in Kyiv on Monday.
The Foreign Ministry is, however, working on the optimization of Ukraine’s presence abroad.
As reported, MP Taras Chornovil, who is not a member of any faction, said on Ukrainian television’s 5th
Channel on October 9 that Ukraine would have to curtail the spending on
its diplomatic offices in a number of states if the hryvnia rate falls,
which would lead to the suspension of certain diplomatic missions.
