Our Ukraine-People's Self-Defense Bloc MP and journalist Ivan Spodarenko has died at the age of 78, the press service of the People's Self-Defense party reported on Dec. 18.
In 2007, he was taken in intensive care due to a heart attack.
Spodarenko was born in the village of Stolne, Mena district, Chernihiv region, on Jan. 23, 1931.
On January 23, 2006, Ukrainian President Victor Yushchenko issued a decree awarding the Hero of Ukraine title to Spodarenko.
