You're reading: Ukrainian parliament not to sit on Friday

A meeting of the Ukrainian parliament on Friday will not take place, according to Oleksandr Yefremov, the deputy head of the Regions Party's faction and chairman of the parliament's regulations committee.

“Today the Regions Party will work constructively in the session
hall, some MPs will work in committee on current bills, while the
faction’s political leadership will work on seeking agreement or
compromise on the Verkhovna Rada’s work in general. There will be no
meeting of parliament today,” he told reporters on Friday.

Commenting on proposals that were discussed at a meeting of the
conciliatory council regarding the possibility of holding plenary
meetings next week, Yefremov said that the schedule of the parliament’s
work should be changed for this goal.

“Given that the Rada won’t meet today and there’s nobody to change
the schedule, then [next week’s] meetings could be held only if any of
the factions has 150 votes for a respective proposal,” he said.

Yefremov said that the Regions Party could call for the holding of
an extraordinary meeting if agreement is reached on a vote on bills
increasing social standards.
