You're reading: Ukrainian president, Polish premier discuss energy security

Ukrainian President Viktor Yuschenko met with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk in Warsaw on Monday, the Ukrainian presidential press service has reported.

“The sides discussed energy security. The point at issue was, among other things, the realization of the Brussels agreements on the Ukrainian gas transit system and on the implementation of the Euro-Asian oil transportation corridor project,” the press service said.

Moreover, the sides touched upon trade and economic cooperation between Ukraine and Poland, as well as investment. Yuschenko said that the Ukraine is interested in boosting investment activity with Poland.

The sides also raised the issue of the importance of invigorating the work of the intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation to find ways out of the economic crisis and settle practical issues in the preparation for the Euro 2012 football championship.

Yuschenko is on a two-day state visit to Poland.
