The Ukrainian armed forces' aviation delivered five airstrikes upon illegal armed groups' strongholds, mortar emplacements, firing points, bases, and camps during an operation in Donetsk and Luhansk regions on Friday, says Vladyslav Selezniov, a spokesman for the military operation in southeastern Ukraine.

“Verified information indicates that the militants suffered significant losses today. Military planes destroyed two mortar batteries, two tanks, three armored personnel carriers, and quite a large amount of automobiles and ammunition,” Selezniov said on Facebook early on Saturday.

A militants stronghold including two tanks, ten other armored vehicles, and 15 automobiles was destroyed near Perevalsk, Luhansk region, Selezniov said. “About 500 gunmen have been killed,” he said.

“A major militant base has been destroyed near the city of Dzerzhynsk in Donetsk region. Preliminary estimates show that up to 500 gunmen have been killed. Two armored personnel carriers have been damaged. A militant stronghold has also been detected and destroyed near the city of Izvaryne, Luhansk region,” he said.
