The Socialist Party of Ukraine (SPU) has decided to start talks with Serhiy Tihipko as a candidate running for presidency. The decision was taken at the first stage of the SPU's 15th congress in Kyiv on Saturday.
Moreover, the congress cancelled the decision taken
at the 14th congress under which Valentyna Semeniuk-Samsonenko was
recommended as a candidate running for presidency from the SPU during
the presidential elections, scheduled for January 2010.
Participants in the 15th congress also decided to elect SPU leader Oleksandr Moroz for another term.
