Eleven Ukrainian citizens have been rescued from the Adriatic cargo ship that sank in the Mediterranean Sea, off the coast of Israel.
The Maritime Bulletin publication announced this on its website. According to the announcement, the Moldovan-flagged cargo ship began sinking in heavy weather near Ashdod (Israel) on Saturday. The crewmembers of the ship are 11 citizens of Ukraine, but the presence of citizens of other countries cannot be ruled out.
The crew went into two lifeboats, and it was later rescued by a Taiwanese vessel. The Adriatic cargo vessel was built in 1981. As Ukrainian News earlier reported, nine Ukrainian crewmembers of the North spirit vessel that sank in the Bay of Biscay were rescued on Dec. 10.
