Kyiv, Dec.15 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Five million will be out of work in 2009 as a result of the crisis in the Ukrainian economy, Presidential Secretariat Head Roman Bezsmertny said at a briefing in Kyiv on Tuesday.
“It became clear during the discussion [at a meeting of the president with the heads of the regional state administrations], that we should expect around 5 million people being unemployed due to the current tendencies of development of the Ukrainian economy,” he said.
According to Bezsmertny, it is necessary to do everything possible to lessen the problem of unemployment. He voiced hope, that the formation of state programs could settle this problem, in particular, in the construction sphere.
