Unidentified men opened fire at the 4 Room furniture center on the Velyka Kiltseva ring road in Kyiv on Friday, a police source has told Interfax-Ukraine.

At around 1440 a group of unidentified man broke into the shop and started shooting at the center’s director and his bodyguards.

The center’s director, known in criminal circles by the nickname of
Kurd, was hospitalized with gunshot wounds. No information about the
security guards is available.

According to the source, the attackers took the director’s wife hostage and escaped in several cars.

One of the cars was then involved in a traffic accident, and its driver was found dead with a gunshot wound, the source said.
