An unidentified person has shot at the building of Zhovtnevy District Court in Zaporizhia, which is hearing a number of high-profile cases, in particular, that on the blowing up of a monument to Stalin, the court's chairman, Viktor Tatarynov, has told Interfax-Ukraine.
"On Sunday, Jan. 16, at 1900, an unknown person fired at a window on the first floor where the office of a judge is situated. It was the only window showing a light at that moment at Zhovtnevy court in Zaporizhia. The judge was simply working late. The bullet flew over his head and hit a cupboard. The window pane, curtain, blinds and furniture were damaged," Tatarynov said.
He also noted that the judge whose office came under fire was not involved in the consideration of the high-profile cases.
Criminal proceedings have been opened into the incident, and the security around the court building stepped up.
